The Amherst Area Chamber of Commerce’s Holiday Gift Card Match program returns for 2023 with a $7,500 match, up from the 2022 gift card figure of $6,000.
The program supports local businesses by incentivizing shoppers to spend their money in Downtown Amherst. When they pay $25 for a card under the program, they get one worth $50, double the value.
Here’s the correct breakdown of this year’s contributors:
- UMassFive College Credit Union: $2,500
- Curran & Keegan Financial: $2,500
- bankESB and Amherst Business Improvement District: $2,500
Starting November 30, shoppers can purchase a $50 Amherst Area Gift Card for $26 (including a $1 service charge). The cards are valid at participating local businesses, helping stretch holiday budgets while supporting the community.
Sales are in-person only at the Visitor Information Center, 35 South Pleasant St., Amherst. Hours are weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. There’s a limit of two cards per person or family, sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
