Amherst hosts forum to discuss planned supportive housing development

The Amherst Affordable Housing Trust Fund is hosting a forum on June 10th to discuss the redevelopment of the VFW site into a shelter plus supportive housing development. Members of the public are invited to attend.

The VFW site was acquired by the town for $775,000 in 2023.

The Amherst Affordable Housing Trust Fund is an initiative aimed at addressing the pressing need for affordable housing in Amherst MA. Established to create and preserve affordable housing, the Trust works to provide safe, decent, and affordable homes for individuals and families in Amherst.

The Trust engages in various activities, including:

  • Funding Affordable Housing Projects: By offering financial support to develop and sustain affordable housing units.
  • Community Engagement: Collaborating with local organizations, residents, and stakeholders to identify housing needs and solutions.
