About

BNI (Business Network International) is the world's largest business networking and referral organization, with a strong presence in Western Massachusetts and other parts of Western New England.

Most BNI chapters have in-person meetings, but there are chapters like BNI Blaze (Northampton MA) that meet virtually. Other chapters, like Business Builders (Holyoke MA), follow a hybrid model where some of the meetings are in-person and others online.

There are also regional in-person meetings that bring members from different chapters together. An example is a meeting of chapters held at Venture X in Holyoke in June 2024, where the BNI National Director, Ron Leonard, gave a workshop on how businesses can get the most out of networking. This was followed by a mixer where members chatted and exchanged contacts during a cocktail hour.

The organization operates on the philosophy of "Givers Gain®," fostering a culture of mutual support and business growth through structured, positive, and professional referral marketing programs.

In Western Massachusetts, BNI chapters are actively building business referral and networking groups. These chapters provide members with opportunities to gain new business, receive business education, and improve networking skills. Members meet weekly to build and nurture lasting relationships, pass qualified business referrals, and develop a group of trusted advisors.

The Pioneer Valley BNI chapter (In-person, Greater Springfield MA), for instance, is a group of committed business professionals who have seen an average business increase of 20% in their first year of membership. This chapter, like others in the region, allows only one person per professional specialty, ensuring that members can lock out their competition and maximize their referral potential.

For those interested in joining, the best way to learn about BNI is to visit a chapter meeting. Visitors can attend chapter meetings twice before deciding on membership, providing a firsthand look at how BNI operates and the benefits it offers. For more information on finding a local chapter or attending an event, you can visit the BNI Massachusetts website.
